Abstract: A series of management systems for improving the operation level of pumps have been established in PetroChina. Good results have been obtained through practical application, and accidents caused by leakage of pumps have been reduced greatly. However, with the changes in the situation, especially the proposal of the highquality development concept, the original management systems cannot fully meet the efficient operation requirements of the refining and chemical plant. This paper analyzes some common problems existing in pump ma-nagement in refining and chemical enterprises. And aiming at these problems, it proposes some specific management measures from six aspects covering risk control, intrinsic safety, standardized overhauling, patrolling and monitoring, operation maintenance and research on long-cycle operation. These measures are taken to truly achieve predictive maintenance and ensure safety in production.
