Abstract: With the application of minimum life cycle cost (LCC) theory, this paper carries out instructive exploration and practice for the lining construction of FCC Reactors & Regenerators at a ten-million-ton refinery project. All staff was organized to get involved in the management and control of the whole process of every link covering design, procurement, construction and use in LCC. This led to good results. It ensured the good quality of equipment construction and guaranteed the successful commissioning of the unit at the first startup. The unit ran safely and smoothly with full load and created good economic benefits during the first operation cycle. During the first overhaul of the unit 3 years later, it was the revealed through equipment inspection that the overall internal condition was very good and this saved a lot of maintenance resources. It was predicted that the unit could continue to operate safely for at least one production cycle. This project provides an example for guiding the continuous improvement of equipment economic and technological activities in the refining and chemical industry with the application of the life cycle cost theory.
