Abstract: This paper introduces the basic structure of the front filter of quench oil pump in ethylene plant before revamping and the failures occurring during long-term operation. The filter imperils the safety of the plant and its long and reliable operation. Based on the cause analysis of the systematic failures of the filter element, the improvement schemes are formulated and implemented from the aspects of vibration control, improving seals and bearings, changing the structure of the scraper assembly, and increasing the strength. Meanwhile, during the installation process, the data of the revamping design are rechecked precisely, thus realizing the systematic revamping of the vulnerable parts of the original filter's automatic scraper filter element structure. The revamped filter can satisfy the function of long-term automatic coke-cleaning, and realize long-term safe and reliable operation.
