Abstract: During the implementation of GB 50341 edition 2014, problems with certain provisions and some errors in several calculation formulas have been discovered gradually. Combining with engineering design practice, this paper summarizes the main issues encountered, personal understanding and revision suggestions into 8 parts for analysis and discussion, which includes the characteristic of none weak roof-to-shell attachment (frangible joint) of self-supporting roofs, suitability of the formula of the roof-to-shell joint cross-sectional area (A) to austenitic stainless steels, an error appeared in the formula of the calculated failure pressure Pf, no need of the calculation thickness of the roof and the total required cross-sectional area (Ar) in roof-to-shell junction region for external pressure tanks compliant to the requirements of atmospheric tanks, the inconsistency between the body text and Appendix B of the standard on the calculation of the shell stability, too small calculated value of the design wind pressure on shells of external pressure tanks, shell stiffener quantity decrease instead of increase along with the ascending of the external pressure, and the modification suggestions for the calculation formula of ribs-stiffening domes.

Key words: GB 50341—2014, weak connection between tank top and tank wall, total area of compression ring resisting force, calculated failure pressure, tank wall stability calculation, safety coefficient of roof stability under external pressure
