Cavitation Performance Optimization of Centrifugal Pump Based on CFD Technology

Abstract: Taking the TSY500-400-895 centrifugal pump as the research object, this paper carried out the numerical calculation and cavitation simulation of the internal flow of the centrifugal pump by using ANSYS CFX software and predicted the net positive suction head critical (NPSHr) of the centrifugal pump under the design condition of Q=2 700 m3/h. On this basis, the structural parameters of the centrifugal pump impeller were optimized. After optimization, the NPSHr of the pump was reduced by 1~1.5m, and the cavitation performance of the centrifugal pump was improved effectively. The cavitation performance test of the centrifugal pump before and after optimization was carried out on the test bench, and compared with the predicted results of the numerical simulation. The results show that the predicted value of the NPSHr was basically consistent with the test value, which indicated that the use of CFD software for cavitation analysis could guide engineering practice efficiently.
